White Beggar in Harlem

White Beggar in Harlem

You know times are rough and tough
When you live to see a white beggar in Harlem
Solemn is the mood
Living in a crude world
Walking through swirls of garbage
Whirling around me in the wind
Sending chills through spines of all kinds
People saying the world is gonna end

Now, everyday I see beggars in the NY subway system
“Can you please spare a nickel or a dime?
It’s not for drugs; it’s not for wine
It’s for food”
Yet no one’s in the mood
To share, few care
But we all are candidates to be right there
In the same place
Tell me…do you feel your brother’s disgrace
Being thrown by the waste side
While devils commit genocide
And laughing in our face
There’s no guilt in the hearts of the greedy
While needy mouths go hungry
With no place to live

Man…if I could only give them all a home
But I just can’t do it alone
It takes a community, based on unity
And a spiritual foundation
So, if someone came to lead the nation
Would we follow…or simply wallow
In all our conditionings and doubt
Would we give them there clout?
You know! Respect due
Or would we just pursue in all our insecurities
Searching for impurities or faults
Unsubstantiated assaults
To disregard their greatness, and love for the people

So, while the sequel continues
Many are chosen, but few choose
Instead loose sight
Trying to fight demons blindly forgetting our tools
“If I had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morning, I’d hammer in the evening…”
All over this land…
We hear the cries of our people
We all want the tools to survive
But when they are revealed
Most of us lay them aside
So until we begin to utilize our tools, our precious powers from within
Cultivating minds, bodies, and spirits
Building communities and a nation
Based on truth and justice
Bustin’ this
Concept of going for self

Well… at least until we recall who self really is
Not this body of flesh with all its likes, dislikes and rationalizations
But, a unity of beings
Bonded in a common theme
Peace…the God consciousness
Looking out for the harmony of all kind
Knowing who we are
Remembering
Do you remember?
Cuz, until we remember…
It will only be common
To find white beggars in Harlem
Peace…DaGoddess

The Funniest Things Kids Say!

Episode Six
I was changing my 3 year old and the baby walked in on us. Being self-aware the 3 year old proclaims "Penis to the rescue!” Just itching to share what I just heard I told my husband. He then explains that most males feel the same way, as if their penis can save the world. "That's why missiles are in the shape of phallic symbols." Go figure?

Episode Seven
The kids were making a lot of noise at the dinner table, so I told them that I wanted to hear silence. My 3 year old then answers, "But, you can't hear silence."

He Couldn’t Rape My Joy

Pinned against the ground
Torn dress above my waist
Peace written on my face
Him trying to invoke pain
I had none to give only peace
Ramming me with his frustration
No hesitation in his action
As my heart held compassion for this poor soul
Still I remained unscathed
You can rape me of my virginity, but not my joy
You can rape me of my material possessions
But you can't rape my joy
You can even rape me of my appearance
But you still can't rape my joy
When he was through my peace embraced him
As a single tear fell from his cheek
No words were spoken
While peace filled the void
Where pain was no longer held in captivity

The Funniest Things Kids Say!

Episode Four
My Daughter spilt her juice on the table. I asked her what happened. She said it was Shakti’s fault. I asked her how it could be Shakti’s fault if he was sitting nowhere near her? She replied “The vibration of Shakti’s voice tipped the cup over and spilled the juice across the table.” Shakti and I locked eyes and then both proceeded to look at her as if she had horns growing out of her head. Wow, what a powerful voice he must have for a young boy to move things across the room with merely the vibration of his voice!

Episode Five
I asked my 3 year old son if he wanted a bagel with cheese. He answers “Yes, but may I have cheese on that?”

Guilt And I Had A Break-Up!

Is your womb tight?
Suffocating from the vices of Guilt and Shame?
Well ‘chile’… Guilt and I had a break-up
And Shame?
He don’t live here no more
I gave him the door!

Guilt was an arranged marriage
Forced upon me
Raped me of my innocence
Stole my virginity
Tarnished my purity
Guilt lied to me
Told me I was dirty
In the midnight hours
So I took a million showers
Told me I was an ugly disgrace
So I painted my face
Told me I was worthy of no man but him
Again he lied
I proved him wrong
And had an affair on the side
With Shame

Shame and I had an abusive relationship
Repeatedly he hit me in the womb
With blows of tension
His blows left scars like tumors
Lining my precious uterus
Leaving no more room for anything else
I tried to take a breath
But my stuff was all crowded
Things where like too tight

Suffocating
Trying to breathe…
I called upon the Goddess of the Lake
Gasping for breath…
I asked her to release her powers so that I may be relieved
But she only presented a mirror
So I looked
Reluctantly
In my reflection was a womb
Embracing Guilt and Shame…
So tightly that there was no more room left for…Love

I needed Love
Had to have her
Wanted her back in my life
So I grabbed the knife and pointed it at Guilt’s jugular
Well…Guilt, got the message and Shame?
He got the message too
They both flew
Still I wasn’t through

Again I called upon the Goddess of the Lake
Suddenly appeared a snake
Dancing me into a trance
Spun me around
Blew in my ear
I fell to the ground
An un-expecting visitor appeared
Joy consumed my body
And oh boy
She never felt so good
I asked if she would
And she melted the scars from my womb
Finally making room…
For Love

The Funniest Things Kids Say!

This is the first of a series to come. My kids are always saying things that help to put a smile on my face.

Episode One
So my 3 year old asks me "What can I have to eat?” Just to mess with him a little I reply "nothing". He then commences to scratch his head with a very perplexed look on his face and with full sincerity queries "Can I eat nothing?”

Episode Two
My 3 year old sees me getting dressed and he asks, "Where are you going?" I answer, "To get some 'uuum' juice." Then with a straight face he asks "Mut (means mother figure), what's 'uuum' juice?"

A Shakti Quote (8 year old son)

The World is like a refrigerator and we are the magnets.
